Lucinda Sanders and Liz Howell at Naturalization Ceremony

On January 6, 2025, Lucinda Sanders and Liz Howell, along with five members of the Mission

Trail Chapter, were honored to assist with the Naturalization Ceremony held at Kansas City

Community College. Although the traditional DAR cookies and punch were missed by all, the ladies of the DAR were proud to support the event by setting out welcome packets on each chair and distributing programs and American flags to guests. After the ceremony, they handed out flag code booklets and pledge cards to the new citizens while directing them to sign up to vote or answering questions about passports.

The flags were a crowd favorite, bringing large smiles to many faces, especially the children as the supporters made their way to their seats, proudly waving them along the way. More than 90 individuals took the oath of citizenship that day. Witnessing such a meaningful milestone was truly moving. The room was filled with pride, joy, and excitement, felt both by the new citizens and the family and friends who came to celebrate with them.

“It was wonderful to be a part of this special day. I teared up as they swore their oath of

citizenship. What a great experience!” -Lucinda Sanders
