Education
Olathe Chapter, NSDAR is Passionate About Educating America’s Youth
Education has always been a cornerstone of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Olathe Chapter, NSDAR members support programs, contests, and awards that inspire students, recognize achievement, and encourage civic responsibility.
Our chapter’s educational initiatives include:
-
Scholarships and awards for outstanding students and teachers
-
Support for local schools through classroom supplies, educational programs, and special projects such as Blankets and Bears, which benefits the Olathe School Foundation for Homeless Children
-
Partnership with the McKinney-Vento program to provide blankets and comfort items for students experiencing homelessness
-
Sponsorship of the Lone Elm Campground C.A.R Society to nurture the next generation of civic-minded leaders

Connecting History and Education
Olathe Chapter, NSDAR members also bring history to life through hands-on experiences and civic engagement:
-
Historic Preservation Projects – Maintaining and marking local historic sites to help students connect with the past
-
Field Trips and Tours – Providing opportunities for students to visit historic landmarks like Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop, Ensor Farmsite, and Lanesfield Schoolhouse
-
Good Citizens Program – Recognizing high school students for leadership, service, and civic responsibility
Community and Civic Engagement
Education at Olathe DAR extends beyond the classroom. Members organize and participate in programs that help students understand history, service, and citizenship, including:
-
America 250! activities marking the nation’s milestones
-
Safe Home and veterans donations to encourage service and empathy
-
Hands-on community projects that connect youth with local history and civic responsibility
"Through scholarships, historic projects, and civic programs, we inspire young people to learn, lead, and serve.”
